About

Bonnie and Laila

Dogs have always been at the heart of my life. When creating Wiggle Butts Day Home in 2024, my mission was to offer a safe, loving place that feels like a true second home. I know how hard it can be to leave your dog with someone else. This space is built on trust, comfort, and genuine care where both their physical and emotional wellbeing come first, while giving parents peace of mind.

I’m Bonnie! A devoted dog Mom who believes in living simply and with purpose, being healthy and active, and growing continually. My Girl is my whole world, and her favorite days are all day Chuck-it-Athons! I love being outdoors, and value mental wellness, meaningful connection, and creating a calm joyful environment.

Our vision is to be the leading safe haven for dogs – known for unmatched care, compassion, and exceptional boarding within our region. Rooted in trust, transparency, and peace of mind, we strive to create a safe, mindful and inclusive community where dogs and their humans thrive together. Beyond boarding, we aspire to build collaborative relationships that nurture both pets and people, especially when they need us most.

With over twenty years of experience raising and enriching dogs, my Girl and I are excited to meet you!

Dogs of all sizes are welcome.

Outdoor Focused

With an all-season outdoor setup that’s safe, warm, and comfy, dogs spend lots of time outdoors, enjoying nature’s benefits and burn off energy in a natural, and fun space.

Strengthening Bonds

I create a cozy, boutique-like experience, providing personalized service that caters to each pup’s needs and nurtures the special bond you share.

Pups In My Home

Pups are in a designated area of my home, to sleep and eat; my heart couldn’t do this any other way.

Education and Credentials

I'm committed to always learning, whether about the human-animal bond, canine behavior, the vast ways to support people and their pups as a family unit, and more. Sharing your life with dogs can be magical and challenging. I strive to be a compassionate and steady presence for dogs and their humans, providing a safe and enjoyable place to stay with a supportive experience all-around. For clarification, here is what I am not: Veterinarian, Animal Health Tech, Vet Nutritionist, Animal Behaviorist or Consultant, Certified Trainer, Groomer, etc; I can however connect you to experts.

*The AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association) defines the human-animal bond as a mutually beneficial and dynamic relationship between people and animals, influenced by behaviors considered essential to the health and well-being of both.*

** Our focus is calm, quiet, intentional care. We are not a loud, chaotic free-for-all. Your pup will learn, socialize and have fun here, but we’re not a replacement for the training and guidance you need to provide at home. We will positively reinforce your efforts – not take them over. **

Do You Need Care for your Pup?

There are so many reasons to need care at some point.
Here are just a few:

Vacation • Out-of-town events • Wedding / Honeymoon • Working away • Shift work, or scheduling conflicts • Unpredictable on-call schedules • Emergencies • Illness, injury, surgery, recovery • Moving / Relocating

Life happens unexpectedly and is stressful enough.

  • It’s a great idea to have both you and your pup get comfortable with someone else’s care when it’s not yet needed, so when the unexpected does happen, it’s one less stressor.
  • Also a good idea to have more than one option, in the event your usual care provider is unavailable.
  • Whatever the reason or circumstances for care, there is no judgment here.

Come for a Complimentary Meet and Greet!

Meet and Greet is required.

  • Parent is present for the first 30 mins – 1 hour. The dog spends an additional 4 hours with me.
  • Meets are outdoors, and booked according to safe weather – please come prepared!
  • Only parent present
  • Why five hours? Because you can’t truly get to know a dog or their human, in 15-30 minutes, in a brand new environment, and my Vet partners agree!

** After the Meet, we’ll indicate if we’re the right fit! **

~ We do not provide care services on the same day as a Meet and Greet ~

    • I am happy to provide photos of the rooms dogs are staying in, or even short videos to help you feel comfortable.
    • Exact location and directions will be provided upon booking a Meet ‘n Greet.
    • If there are signs of illness or unacceptable behavior occurring, you will be called for immediate pick-up.
    • I’m a human that is not attached to tech. All pups with me receive the best care possible, therefore:
      • I will provide updates a few times daily, but not constantly.
      • If you call, you are likely to leave a message. I won’t be available to answer calls and messages instantly, all day. Don’t worry I will get back to you!
    • During seasonal sickness waves, I may be masked when interacting with you. I am no good to you/your pup, or my family, if I become ill.
    • Please be aware: Located in the country, my range road is maintained by the County. During winter months, while the County aims to plow as quickly as possible, sometimes the road can be tricky due to snow and drifting.

FAQ's

Your Title Goes Here

Your content goes here. Edit or remove this text inline or in the module Content settings. You can also style every aspect of this content in the module Design settings and even apply custom CSS to this text in the module Advanced settings.

What’s a day like, how much exercise and socialization does my pup get?
  • Socialization is on each dogs’ terms – listening to and respecting their needs. This is carefully matched by age, size, and play style to ensure safety and fun.
  • Days are shaped by the weather and schedule. In extreme temps, we do short, frequent outdoor breaks for safety and exercise.
  • Several rest periods are built into the day, including one hour after all meals to ensure safety, and reduce bloat risk.
What Should I Bring?

For sanitary and health reasons beds, bedding and group toys are provided.

  • Food: Please bring enough for your pups stay and a little extra (just in case!). Please send in Ziploc bags with your food scoop. You can bring your pup’s favorite sealed treats.
  • Medication: Please bring in the original container with label, issued by your Vet.
  • Toys: You can bring these as long as toys are non-fabric and can be easily sterilized.
  • Bones: You can bring a bone so long as they aren’t the type that cause a choking hazard and require supervision while enjoying.
  • Collar, Harness (if one is used).
What are your Sanitizing and Cleaning Protocols?
  • Products used are Vet recommended and animal safe.
  • Crates are sanitized after every pup.
  • Bedding is freshly washed and replaced after every pup.
  • Bowls and toys are sanitized daily.
What are the Beds and Crates Like?
  • Custom made orthopedic mattress foam beds, along with cozy blankets, in various sizes. These have undergone many rounds of quality assurance testing by my critters to ensure pup satisfaction <3
  • Our rest spaces are matched to dogs’ size while ensuring comfort. We use roomy exercise pens along with a couple homestyle crates.

How do I know my pup will be safe while staying with you?
  • All outdoor time is supervised.
  • All dog-to-dog play and interactions are supervised.
  • No outdoor products used that are harmful to animals.
  • The entire acreage is enclosed with page wire fencing and gate.
  • We have high-quality air purifiers with HEPA filters in each room and Adaptil diffusers.
  • Resident animals are spayed/neutered, fully vaccinated and regularly receive deworming and parasite prevention treatment.
What if the Meet and Greet is too long for my pup?
  • If the length and structure of the Meet n Greet is difficult for your pup, then we’ll take it slow, in baby steps. Your pup will not be pushed into a situation that will knowingly cause fear or anxiety.

  • So, as long as you are committed to take slow steps, then we’ll make a plan that’s comfortable. It’s similar to recommendations Vet staff offer parents countless times – if a pup is afraid of going into the Clinic, stop in periodically for tiny visits, just to say hi, get a treat and some love, when you’re not there for an appointment.

I’ve taken my pups here for daycare and overnights, and they are always well taken care of. Bonnie is fantastic, sending photos and updates when we’re gone for a long stretch. She gives the dogs the same loving care as we do at home.

We are absolutely delighted to have found Wiggle Butts. Our pooch, Mazie, trots off happily when we drop her off with hardly a backward glance! Bonnie, the owner, is straightforward and sincere. She is a compassionate caregiver and clearly adores animals. Her dedication to learning and partnership with a local vet clinic shows a real committment to the health and wellness of her clients. During a recent boarding stay she was sure to update us a few times a day with pictures and texts. Her home is set up with safety in mind, the pups have a giant outdoor space to play in and her group sizes stay very small and well managed. Can’t recommend this place enough!

I have known Bonnie both personally and professionally for 15 years now. When we got our dog Ace, we hated the idea of leaving him behind while we went away. Bonnie took him into her home and treated him so well and made sure he felt at home. She has always been flexible with meeting his needs and ensured we felt comfortable as well. He is getting older now and she has been very accommodating to his changing needs. She keeps us updated while we are away and is very good at communicating how things are going. Ace is 11 years old now and has never stayed with anyone else; he only goes to Bonnie and perks up every time we mention her name

I was so lucky to be connected to Bonnie when I’ve needed care for my dog Penny, and I can’t express how grateful I am for the experience. Bonnie was incredibly accommodating and kind, especially during a difficult time for me. You can truly see her passion for what she does – she has put in so much effort to create a comfortable, fun and safe environment for the dogs. It’s clear that this is a top tier doggy home away from home. Her attention to safety and comfort for all the pups in her care is evident.

She’s located on a beautiful 5 acre property, and the home away from home atmosphere she’s created within it is amazing, safe and comfortable. With both her indoor space and a wonderfully designed outdoor setup for them in the colder months there’s plenty of space to get out all the zoomies. Penny had a wonderful time, and I felt at ease knowing she was in such caring hands. I highly recommend Bonnie’s Wiggle Butts Day Home for anyone looking for exceptional care for their furry babies. Thank you!

I can’t recommend this dog day home enough! Bonnie, the owner, is absolutely wonderful with my dog—so caring, attentive, and clearly passionate about what she does. The facility is always clean, well-maintained, and has a large open space where the dogs can run around and play freely. My dog is always so excited to see Bonnie and comes home happy and tired every time. It gives me real peace of mind knowing my pup is in such good hands! Thanks Wiggle Butte

I can't recommend Bonnie (Wiggle Butts) enough!

I can’t recommend Bonnie (Wiggle Butts) enough! From the moment I dropped off Kiska I knew he was in great hands. Bonnie is incredibly attentive, professional, and clearly passionate about caring for animals.
What truly impressed me was the level of care and personalized attention kiska received – especially considering his separation anxiety. Bonnie went above and beyond to make him feel at ease, using patience, kindness and a deep understanding of how to comfort anxious dogs. Thanks to her, Kiska settled in better than I ever expected.

Another amazing aspect at Wiggle Butts was the frequent updates throughout the day. Bonnie kept me informed with messages and photos throughout the day.

If you are looking for a reliable, compassionate and communicative place for boarding I would look no further than Wiggle Butts.

I feel at ease and trust next to no one

5 stars! Bonnie is absolutely fantastic and amazing with my pups! Her home is welcoming and safe – and I feel at utmost ease leaving my furry kids with her for care (they are the most special and I trust next to no one with them!!)

This speaks to how much Bonnie loves animals and includes them in her life.

5 stars! We are soooo grateful to Bonnie. Skoki (Bernese) was able to stay with her for 5 weeks while we travelled. Bonnie has a great set up of her yard & house. Due to the fact we were going so long we wanted somewhere for her to go that felt like she was in a home and part of a family. Bonnie’s place was exactly that! From the moment you meet Bonnie you know that she loves dogs so much. Skoki was welcomed and she had a great time. Over time she became friends with the cats and felt at home. Bonnie updated us all the time on Skoki and sent us photos of what she was up to. Her house is a great set up and Skoki had her own area to sleep. In the past when we have gone away for a while there is a transition period when she returns but this time there wasn’t. This speaks to how much Bonnie loves animals and includes them in her life. Also she lost weight! In a good way. She got lots of exercise and running outside. Layla (Bonnie’s dog) is just wonderful and super playful. For sure we would leave Skoki here again! Thank you again Bonnie!

It's nice to know that Bonnie does a screening test with her new clients to make sure that they are a good fit in her home

5 stars! Bonnie was great and looked after my overly affectionate, endless energy dog without any qualms. It’s nice to know that Bonnie does a screening test with her new clients to make sure that they are a good fit in her home. It made me feel a sense of security. Plus it was nice to know I wasn’t failing to terribly as an owner because my dog passed the test. Lol

The country location is great so they have room to play and stay safe at the same time.

I have known Bonnie for over 20 years, and she is a kind and considerate person who I would not hesitate to leave my pets with. I don’t think you will find a more caring person to have look after your best friends. Her setup is great and she’s made it so they aren’t alone while under her care. The country location is great so they have room to play and stay safe at the same time.

Hands down, one of the most caring, hardworking people I know

I’ve known Bonnie for over 20 years and she’s hands down one of the most caring, hardworking people I know. Her effort and determination to do things right is second to none. When it comes to dogs I don’t think there’s anyone else on this planet that cares more for them than she does. With her work ethic and love for animals, in my opinion, Bonnie is the best person to take care of your pup(s). I’ve seen the layout of the retreat and the attention to detail for your dog’s comfort and safety is unmatched. With roomy sleeping quarters plus a few acres to run around, your pup won’t want to leave.

As with all things Bonnie engages in, she strives for excellence.

I have been fortunate enough to have known Bonnie both personally and professionally for 12 years. In that time, I have found her to be nothing short of amazing. Bonnie possesses a passion for life that becomes evidently more obvious the better you get to know her. She is reliable, honest and always exudes integrity in her actions. Bonnie has harnessed that passion and excitement to do something she has always been drawn to. Caring for canines and ensuring people know that their beloved family members are in the safest of hands is her calling. As with all things Bonnie engages in, she strives for excellence. Whether it is changing rural lending policies across Canada or committing to being the best canine caregiver, Bonnie brings her whole heart and does not take shortcuts or deliver subpar results!

That same level of detail has been exercised in creating Bonnie’s next chapter in her pursuit of her passion. If you are looking for an individual that you can call a trusted furry baby caregiver, you should look no further than Wiggle Butts Day Home. Bonnie has spent a great deal of time educating herself and ensuring everything is in order before embarking on pursuing her lifelong passion. She is loyal, caring and produces only quality results in everything she does.

Leaving our furry family members with strangers can be so stressful and worrisome. Bonnie understands how important it is for canine parents to have solid peace of mind in knowing that they have made the best choice ensuring the care, safety and happiness of their precious furry companion. Reach out and have a chat with Bonnie, you will not be disappointed nor will your furry companion.

Karla.  Calgary area.

Bonnie is fervent about the benefits of canine-human relationships.

I have known Bonnie professionally and personally for many years.  Having worked on several projects with her, I have come to appreciate her detail-orientation, exemplary communication and facilitation skills, and her ability to execute and deliver the highest quality results.  What’s more than the quality of her work, is the humanity with which she engages that work, always treating colleagues and stakeholders with respect and expressing her appreciation for their collaboration and partnership. She creates psychologically safe environments with every team or project she leads, and cares deeply about the experience people have under her leadership.

It didn’t take long for me to see the love and passion she had for all animals, but especially for dogs.  One can’t capture in words the way she would light up when talking about her babes’. All I know is that people find purpose in their passion, and there is no doubt that Bonnie’s purpose in life is to connect with, and love and care for dogs.

Bonnie is fervent about the benefits of canine-human relationships.  She deeply respects the connection between a dog, its parent and broader family.   Dogs make up our group of loved ones, and their well being – physical and emotional – is  non-negotiable. Having had the privilege of visiting her farm and witnessing her engage with her animals, I know this to be true. Bonnie creates a loving and structured environment for her dogs, and any dog under her care. Lots of outdoor play, exercise, and human interaction against the backdrop of a serene and tranquil countryside is the everyday experience.  Part of nurturing is also expecting and enforcing good manners and habits, to which she holds her animals accountable.

It’s about time Bonnie has turned her keen perspective and unbridled passion for dogs into living her dream by opening Wiggle Butts Day Home – The Nurturing Second home you Trust.  I can say with the utmost confidence that there is not a person or a place that can give your furry-family-member a better experience away from home than Bonnie and the Wiggle Butts Farm.  You can be assured that your dog will receive the love, care, structure, and attention they deserve, as well as the peace of mind you deserve.  My only warning is that your dog may not want to leave.
